Meeting our new cousin Brooklyn

The kids had a great time meeting their new cousin and playing with the older three Veers. I didn't get a picture with Trevin holding Brooklyn. He is never around when the cousins come. He had a great time playing outside with Owen all day long. Meryn wanted to hold the baby as often as we would let her. She also informed me she wanted to have one so she could be a big sister. I just let her know she could have her own in 30 years and that seemed to make her happy for now.

Summer Break Begins...

No School for a while, so I didn't set the alarm this morning. I let the kids know we could all sleep in today. Greg left at 5 am for work and that is the last noise I remember until... I woke up at 7:30 with the fan on high in my room(the twins did this to block out the noise) and I smelled food. Well they all woke up at the break of dawn and made eggs and toast. Brendon loves to take charge and the others all take his orders, most of the time. They did a good job and had already cleaned up the kitchen for me. They let me know there were only two shells and they got them both out:). Brendon gave Meryn the job of picture taking. I think she did a pretty good job! They wanted to make sure I had pictures so I could blog about it.

Recital

Caleb

Brendon

The boys have been taking piano lessons for about 8 months now. They do a great job, but would love to not have to practice as much as they do. (normal kids I guess) They had their first recital today and did an excellent job. Here are some videos of their performances. Sorry for the quality. CALEB BRENDON DUET

Baptism

What a special day today was. Today, our three boys were baptized and made their public acknowledgment of their decision to accept salvation and have Jesus in their hearts.
Brendon, Caleb and Trevin all made the decision in the past few years to ask Jesus into their hearts and had just recently inquired about baptism. After discussing it with Grandpa Neir, they wanted to take the next step and make a profession of faith and be baptized. They all prepared a testimony to say along with a verse and were very grown up in how they spoke. I was so pleased and proud to hear them speak and see them baptized. I was also given the opportunity to pray for them in front of the church. It was very moving and I will always cherish that. I am so thankful for being blessed with our children and am so at peace knowing that my three boys will be in heaven one day. I want to thank mom and dad for bringing me up in a God fearing home and for being examples of Christ. Thank you to Roger and Mary for also being examples of God and for helping to raise them to love the Lord. I am so proud to have Brendon, Caleb and Trevin as my sons and am looking forward to watching them grow and learn.

Training For My First Duathlon

My sister June asked me if I wanted to do a duathlon with her in July. I have never done any kind of race, so it sounded fun, plus a good way to get in better shape. We will be running 3 miles, biking 18, then running 3 more miles. Well, I have been running a little bit lately (not near enough). Since I was in KC helping with Julies new baby, June and I decided to do some running and were both happy we have the same pace. Just makes the race more fun to stay together. Well what I didn't mention was the name of this race is the Prairie Punisher. I now know why...The last day I was there we decided to do the 18 mile bike ride. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I never realized we had mountains in Kansas. Well we do, they are in Gardner. I remember trying my hardest to catch June at one point just to ask how far we had gone. I wasn't thrilled to hear "about 3 miles". I did lots of moaning and complaining and all June complained of was her stomach hurting from laughing at me. She has obviously been biking a few more times than me! The funny thing, is she has these shoes that clip on her pedals. I was a little worried it would slow us down because she would have to change in and out of them for the running(she mentioned it would give me a breather). Well I don't think that is going to be an issue anymore:) I believe If I don't do some serious biking soon, I will still be saying, I think I can up one of the many "mountains". I planned on taking Meryn on a bike ride today but decided my sore rear needs another recovery day. The positive side is I finally have the feeling back in my hands and feet.

Mowing

Today was the first day of many thrilling lawn mowing experiences the boys will have in the years to come. They all wanted to try and mow, so I let them do the backyard, for obvious reasons. They actually did pretty well and Brendon & Caleb could start the mower on their own. Trevin was by far the most enjoyable to watch because of his lack of modesty. I couldn't resist getting a picture. I think I'll let them practice a little more before I turn the loose on the front yard!

Brendon

Brendon had his season ending game today. He has played goalie all season until today when he played forward. It's an exhausting position that is always on the move. It was pretty obvious he wasn't use to it when he started walking after every encounter with the ball. The fan in me wanted to yell and scream at him to quit walking and run, but I knew he was giving his best and I was happy to see him perform. He has really improved this season and is exciting to watch.

Caleb

Caleb played an awesome game today in his last game of the season. He played full back, which he was pretty disappointed with. He has wanted to play forward, but hasn't had the chance all season. Despite being a defender, he played his position with all his heart and gave 100%. He did a wonderful job and played exceptionally. I was proud of him and his effort. Good job Caleb!

Trevin

Today was Trevin's last soccer game of the spring season. He did very well and blocked a tough kick as goalie. He is so fun to watch and has really improved over the years. He really hustles and has a smile on his face the whole time. He's a cutie.

Home Depot

As if we didn't have enough fun last night, we got up after 6 hours of sleep, ate some pancakes and bacon, then headed over to Home Depot for their monthly Kids Workshop. This month they made an herb garden. It came with everything they need to grow parsley, chives and sweet basil. It was an easy project this time, but they all had fun and as soon as we got home, they planted their seeds. We'll show their progress as soon as they start growing.

Starlite Drive-In

Last night I decided to take the kids to see the new Spiderman 3 movie. We were just going to go to the theater, but I thought it would be more fun to go to the drive-in. So they invited some friends and the 7 of us headed down to Wichita. The first show didn't start until 8:45 and the next was at 11:30. So we were all a little tired by the end. We all had a great time and they can't wait to go back with mommy. I forgot to get pictures at the beginning, but managed to get some at 1:00 am when we left. Only Trevin, Caleb and his friend Colton stayed up for the whole thing. We had a lot of fun and look forward to the next time.
